The week at a glance
Punjab stays locked in pre-monsoon heat through midweek, with afternoon highs of 40–42°C across the plains and apparent temperatures pushing 45°C where humidity pools along the rivers.
City by city
- Lahore — highs near 41°C, an extreme-heat advisory in effect; Friday evening thunderstorm chance 65%.
- Faisalabad — similar heat, slightly drier air; dust haze thickens each evening.
- Multan — the hot spot of the week at 42–43°C; little storm relief expected until the weekend.
- Rawalpindi — a notch cooler near 38°C with better overnight recovery in the foothills.
The Friday disturbance
A compact western disturbance crosses northern Punjab late Friday. Convergence along its leading edge favors evening thunderstorms from Sialkot down to Lahore, with 30–60 minute downpours, gusts past 70 km/h in the strongest cells, and localized urban flooding. Behind it, Saturday's highs drop 3–4 degrees before heat rebuilds.
Farming notes
Reference evapotranspiration runs near 7.5 mm/day — irrigate pre-dawn to cut losses. Hold off on spraying after mid-morning; thermals and gusts will cause drift. Cotton heat stress thresholds (38°C) are exceeded daily this week.
